Colour Palette

I have lots of research to work with to produce my vibrant colour palette, looking particuarly at 'The 1950s Sketchbook' for inspiration.

I liked the way the shelves were stacked with all of the 1950s food cans and washing powders etc, and so I did a few Lino prints in the same way, ensuring I used bright colours. They didn't work as well as I had hoped but I think I can do something with the shapes.

Trying to collect as much research I could, I visited the Special Collections part of the library and looked at a few first edition books from the 1950s, I loved the colours. 

My favourite was The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss :)

I really like all the colours of the time, and want to really play and look at colour as last project I seemed to shy away from it. I have noticed lots of pastels and bright colours especially in advertising;

I started gathering lots of images together, to build up lots of research from the time.

I found that all the images were very bright and advertising was definately geared towards new electrical appliances and items for the home.
