Sampling Task(Shock,Wow,Wonder)

I found it useful to look at other peoples samples, and see what they had produced so far for this project. I brought mostly my old samples from the origins unit, I had not yet produced any print samples!

It was all about trying new ways of connecting my work, I fould connections within the work I had produced; I seem to be drawn to working on a small scale. But the most important thing I learnt from this session was that I needed MORE samples!

As Colour is the main element to this project I have been looking at artists for inspiration;

George Seurat

His work is colourful and vibrant and really stands out. And his method of using Pointillism(method of using neat dots to paint) works very well even if it is very time consuming! I really like his work; and how it is based on realistic everyday settings or objects. I will try and incorprate his style within my own drawings of lizards.

Paul Cezanne

Cezanne nd Seurat are simuliar in their use of colour. I am attracted to the shades of green as at the moment green seems to be my main colour scheme(due to my original photographs of lizards)

Colour Workshop

I really enjoyed this workshop alot more than the drawing sessions, as exploring colour is something I had not looked at in a lot of depth before.

Introduction to Gouache

One thing that I really found useful in this workshop was the introduction of Gouache! I had not come across it before and I found it a useful skill to learn for the first stages of my project. I was surprised how long it takes to mix the exact colour you desire but I really want to use it lots in my project.

I am really happy to be doing the print workshop! I want to look at pattern, after the initial ideas from my clothes there was my favourite top which really stands out.....

It instantly reminded me of lizards, and the words Coincidence and Deliberate seem to tie in nicely, as I want to explore pattern within these areas.

 I am starting to look at animal prints for my screen print designs and so I have been drawn back to the lizard I met at the Manchester Museum. I went back to get some more detailed snaps.

Favourite Picture;
Just love the pattern and shape and textured look of the skin....

NEW Sampling Project!

Initial reactions to the new brief; excited about colour/pattern. First reactions came from looking at what was around me; turns out to be clothes in my room! Noticed lots of pattern and colour.
Possibly; Colour/Monochrome OR Repetition/Singular OR Coincidence and Deliberate.

The Manchester Museum

During the Assessment week, i visited The Manchester Museum.....

 I ve always been fascinated by egyption art, and so I found this section of the museum particularly interesting. Aswell as the colours.

This picture is my favourite, I really like the pattern, and the variation of shells.
