After having my Embellisher induction, i could finally really start to explore the texture of the brickwork we'd been looking at, and came up with these samples.

Filming...

We split up as a group and did filming in the studio and filming around Manchester, collecting lots of footage for hopefully our final video. ...

We went and filmed by Mayfield Station as we didn't want to loose the first intitial ideas we had at the first stages of our project.

Filming my samples dissolving..

I am really not a natural when it comes to filming, but as a group we have started collecting footage together, I just used this to show I have tried a little myself! I now know how to fast forward filming; I wanted to dissolve one of my own samples as we have been filming dissolvable fabric together.

Jean Paul Gaultier

We have been using a lot of projections and so i wanted to find out other artists who were doing something simiuliar. Jean Paul Gaultier used projections in one of his catwalk shows. He projected  faces onto plastic mannequins, it achieved a very strange, scary feel to the mannequins.

After concentrating on my lino prints of maps, I started looking at dissolvable fabric, I made the map shape and after the fabric had been dissolved, I was left with lots of different shapes. I did quite a few and then started to place them ontop of each other. They resembled the texture and shapes that form ontop of brickwork.

Reverting back to the the idea of a hiddent gem, I stitched the mapworks into a shirt, on the inside so that it was all hidden on the outside.

I altered the brightness in this picture to make it brighter. I like the orange brickwork but I do like the contrasts you find on the redbrick.

This is another page from my sketchbook, I printed my lino print of mapping ontop of the brickwork picture.I really want to emphasise the layered effect I have noticed on bricks. They are not flat and not all one colour.

Mapping onto one of my dyed fabric pieces.
